It’s a fantastic sport where the dog learns to overcome obstacles in a playful way, while strengthening the bond between dog and owner. Although the Afghan Hound isn’t a typical breed for agility, watching one gracefully navigate the hurdles with harmonious movement and elegance is truly a rewarding experience. To my satisfaction, Kate is always physically and mentally exhausted after training, so when we return home, she lies down and sleeps for the rest of the afternoon. :-)

Je to skvělý sport, při kterém se pes hravou formou učí překonávat na povel nejrůznější překážky a upevňuje se tak vztah mezi psem a pánem. Afgán není zrovna typické plemeno pro tento sport, ale dívat se na afgána, s jakou ladností pohybu a elegancí překonává překážky, je zážitek. Kate je navíc k mé naprosté spokojenosti po výcviku unavená jak fyzicky, tak i psychicky, takže když přijdeme domů, lehne a prospí celé odpoledne :-)

We are always looking for opportunities for sport, self-realization, jogging, and enjoyment for Kate. So, when the chance to try coursing came up, we didn’t hesitate.

Friday afternoon, a public holiday, was perfect for a trip. I was mostly curious to see how Kate would handle it and whether she would enjoy it. I have to say, any doubts I had were unnecessary. At first, she didn’t understand why all the dogs were barking when others were running. But once she tried it, everything made sense to her.

She could only run a shorter course for puppies since she was only five months old. She chased the lure with such passion, as if she had been doing it forever. Typical Afghan hound – chasing anything that moves! :-) The only problem was the course was too short for her.

We definitely won’t be making this our last time at coursing, and next time, we’ll be professionals!

Neustále hledáme pro Kate sportovní vyžití, vyběhání a zábavu, takže když se naskytla možnost jet na coursing, neváhali jsme.

Páteční odpoledne, státní svátek, pro výlet jako stvořené. Hlavně jsem byla zvědavá, jak to Kate půjde, jestli ji to chytí… Musím říct, že jakékoliv obavy byly zbytečné. Ze začátku sice vůbec nechápala, proč všichni psi ječí, když se běželo, ale pak si to taky zkusila a pochopila vše.

Protože měla jen pět měsíců, mohla běžet pouze kratší dráhu pro štěňata. Pronásledovala střapec s takovým nadšením, jako by běhala odjakživa. Typický afgánský chrt, běží za vším, co se hýbe :-) Jen ta dráha byla pro ni příliš krátká…

Určitě jsme nebyli na coursingu naposled a příště už budeme profíci :-)
